About 150 stalls sell Christmas presents and decorations, sweets and hot drinks.
Very impressive are the Christmas balls with paintings from parts of Vienna – they are definitely something you will not find anywhere else!
Sweets also stand out, especially strudels as well as the hot aromatic wine that helps you face the cold!
There are many activities for children, such as the “Christkindl” Express, a short train ride, pony riding and carousel.
So a market ideal for young and old!
From 12 November the Christmas tree is decorated with 1000 led lights and is one of the main attractions of the square.
Tradition wants every year an Austrian city to donate the tree showing the close relationship with the capital.
Many events, mainly music and children performances, lblive in the square.
* Dress very warmly because at night the temperature is around 0 degrees.
* The best time for shopping in the market is in the morning, before it is still crowded.
* The best time for a walk is late afternoon and evening to see the lights and take nice photos.
