Travel Tips: Travel to Nisyros

THE Nisyros has natural beauties and landscape change possibilities. Steep shores and green slopes are interrupted by beautiful beaches. Castles, monasteries, churches, settlements of special architecture with pebbled squares, traditions and customs invite you to explore. The mild climate is suitable for tourism all year round.

The ΜΑΝΔΡΑΚΙ: The largest settlement where the port is located, the Folklore Museum, the Archaeological Museum, Paleokastro (6th-4th BC), the Venetian Castle with Panagia Spiliani, the Municipal Thermal Baths, the cobbled squares of the City Hall and Potamos and the beach of Hochlakos for swimming with the unique sunset.

Their OLD: A picturesque fishing village, where there are Ancient Roman Baths and inside them is the small church of Panagia Thermiani.

The TRADE: The traditional mountain settlement with the Castle of Pantoniki, the church of Taxiarches, the Natural Sauna. From the “balcony of Emporio” enjoy the wonderful view to the Caldera and Profitis Ilias, drinking coffee, ouzo and tasting traditional food

The NIKEA: The mountainous settlement, with its peculiar architecture and the panoramic view to the Caldera. Porta, a famous pebble square, the Church of the Entrances of the Virgin, the Monastery of Agios Ioannis the Theologian and the Monastery of Panagia Kyra are located here.

The CALCERA: The open-air geological museum with the craters Stefanos, Polyvotis etc. For your tour you will need the necessary equipment to enjoy this unique phenomenon

The coasts, steep, for the most part, are interrupted by a few, but idyllic beaches, which exist around the island such as: Lefki Paralia, Palon beach, Pachia Ammos, Lyes, and the only beach of Hochlakos that got its name thanks to the large black lava pebbles.

Nisyros is connected to Piraeus only by boat and the journey takes about 14 hours. Local itineraries can take you to neighboring Kos, Kalymnos and Rhodes.
