Puerto de la Cruz in Tenerife

The Puerto de la Cruz, meaning the port of the cross, is located in the Orotava Plain, on the north coast of Tenerife Island in the Canary Islands.

The area, which was originally a fishing village, has developed into a very organized tourist destination. Large hotels, picturesque squares, traditional houses, tourist shops, exotic flowers and palm trees, along with the sea, compose a beautiful landscape for a relaxing holiday.

The area has wild beauty, so do not expect to find quiet beaches with white sand! It is a tourist destination with all the amenities for the visitors but it does not have ideal beaches.

Along the coast there is a large pedestrian street full of bars, restaurants, tall palm trees and benches.

The most famous beach is Playa Jardin, beach with a length of 1 km and black volcanic sand. The bad thing about the seas there is that they have very strong currents that often make swimming impossible.
